The Nintendo DS version features two game flavors: Classic and New Age. Classic is essentially what you'd expect: the original game design scaled down for play on the handheld system. The Classic Mode simply puts the old-school graphic action on the upper screen, with the lower touch screen offering an image of a joystick panel as well as the information HUD such as score, high score, and how many tanks are left. The retro game can be played either via D-pad and buttons, D-pad and touch screen (for firing), or touch screen exclusively...though the left-right fire controls are a little sloppy using nothing but the stylus.
